Renault Samsung Motors is putting its LED Matrix Vision headlamps in all SM6 sedan trims. LED matrix headlamps are smart headlights that illuminate wider and farther, preventing glare and stopping light from distracting oncoming traffic.

It is a smart light technology that illuminates all places where light is needed, but prevents illumination where it is unnecessary. This is a further evolution from High Beam Assist, which simply detects another vehicle and turns the high beam function on and off.

The matrix headlamp consists of a sensor that detects several beams providing precise light control. First, microscopic rays such as LEDs and lasers illuminate hundreds of meters away. Thanks to this function, even at night, visibility is high and the driver can feel at ease as if driving in daytime.

When a car appears in the opposite lane, the state-of-the-art control system detects what areas should not be illuminated and cuts the light only in those areas.

In addition, the Assist Call function, which is a safety support call service, is included as a standard feature. Assist Call is a service that supports rescue reports and accident handling through a 24-hour dedicated call center in the event of an emergency.

In the event of an accident in which the airbag is activated, the vehicle actively transmits the location to a call center automatically requesting emergency rescue and accident handling assistance.

An Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is also available for most trims. The active judging and operating of ADAS is becoming an essential safety feature.

In the early days, adaptive cruise control, which adjusts the speed by itself according to the distance from the vehicle in front, and the lane keeping assist function, which helps keep the vehicle in the lane by turning the steering wheel, were selected as the main functions.

When these two functions interact, it feels almost as if the car is driving autonomously.
