Nuvoton Technology, a Taiwan-based microcontroller unit (MCU) maker, is seeking to improve its presence in Korea's industrial MCU market, its chairman said Wednesday.
"Nuvoton has operations in eight countries with over 3,000 employees worldwide. We acquired Panasonic Semiconductor in September 2020. Today, we are No. 7 in the global MCU market," Yuan-Mou Su, chairman and CEO of Nuvoton Technology, said during a press conference at a hotel in Seoul.
Established in 2008, Nuvoton produces MCUs that are essential for controlling electronic systems of various kinds of devices. The company established its Korean unit in July 2020. Since acquiring Panasonic Semiconductor, the company has been expanding into various sectors such as image sensing, electric vehicle (EV) battery management systems and MCUs for home appliances.
"We will aggressively advance into the Korean market in line with the changing demands of company customers in Korea and actively expand and support our Korean unit to provide optimal products and services," the chairman said.
To introduce its various products to Korean customers, the chairman said the company will hold a technology seminar at COEX on Thursday.
"We will hold a big roadshow event to introduce our product. Customers can easily choose Nuvoton's MCU portfolio to optimize their products," he said.
