Major conglomerates are starting to hire new and experienced employees, including in the highly competitive semiconductor and battery industries.
Samsung is currently the only company among the top five major conglomerates to conduct an open recruitment, while the other companies are recruiting on demand.
Samsung Electronics and its major affiliates are planning to hold an entry-level recruitment drive in mid-March.
Samsung announced last August that it would directly hire 40,000 people over the next three years. Of these, 10,000 are expected to be employed mainly in high-tech industries.
Accordingly, the scale of employment in future growth engines, such as system semiconductors and biotechnology, is expected to increase compared to last year.
Samsung Electronics is also currently hiring experienced employees in the semiconductor sector.
SK hynix will also start hiring new and experienced workers this month.
The company said that the number of new employees SK hynix will recruit in the first half of this year be in the hundreds. The company has been hiring more than 1,000 new employees every year since switching to on-demand hiring.
The company plans to expand the number of newly recruited employees compared to previous years in consideration of the fast-growing semiconductor industry and facility investment.
The competition to recruit talented staff in the semiconductor industry is expected to heat up even more, as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, which lead the global semiconductor market, will be recruiting simultaneously.
SK Group announced last October that it would create 27,000 jobs for young people over three years, by expanding the number of new hires per year to 9,000 from 6,000.
LG Electronics is expected to start hiring new employees this or next month.
Currently, LG Energy Solution is hiring graduates with masters or doctoral degrees, and the recruitment of experienced employees is also being carried out on a large scale by various affiliates.
Hyundai Motor Group also announced that it will directly hire 30,000 people over the next three years and create 16,000 jobs through talent development and start-up support.
