Hyundai Oilbank turns gas stations into lifestyle platforms

Hyundai Oilbank has recently been making efforts to transform its gas stations into a lifestyle platform that provides a variety of customer experiences.
In 2019, the company started a business with Makespace by creating a warehouse at its gas stations where customers can keep their winter clothes or camping equipment. Retailers can also rent Hyundai Oilbank's warehouse to store their merchandise temporarily, and local sandwich franchise New York Hotdog and Coffee opened a restaurant in it selling snacks to people.
Last year, the refiner began a 5G repeater business in partnership with LG Uplus and KT while launching a public parking lot service utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT) in collaboration with Hancome Mobility.
In addition, the company diversified its car-washing service for customers while introducing car-wash coupons for the first time among refiners.
Recently, Hyundai Oilbank started selling an ultra-small electric vehicle called "Sevo C" at five of its gas stations directly managed by the headquarters in collaboration with Sevo Mobility. Sevo C can load a maximum of two persons at a time and it can travel about 75 kilometers per hour when fully charged. It is the No. 1 model in the domestic ultra-small passenger car market. People can try out driving the electric car displayed at the gas stations.
This month, the refiner transformed one of its gas stations in Sadang-dong, Seoul, into a digital art gallery by installing an outdoor LED display screen on the wall. During the period of a month, Hyundai Oilbank exhibited some 100 art pieces there.
"We started this service with the hope that customers can enjoy difference experiences at gas stations while refueling their cars. We hope our gas stations will turn into a futuristic platform, where people can come wash their cars, enjoy art works and drive new vehicles," a Hyundai Oilbank official said.
