Hyundai Mobis inked a deal to supply chassis modules to Mercedes-Benz AG, becoming the first non-European supplier of chassis modules as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), the Korean automotive parts maker said Tuesday.
Through the deal, Mobis won the recognition of global automakers for its module technology and quality. Mobis' new production facility in McCalla, Alabama is operating at full capacity.
The factory produces chassis modules for 4 different electric SUVs.?
??
The company has accumulated over 20 years of module development and assembling experience worldwide.
In the process of winning this contract, Mobis held multiple technical briefings and touring sessions with the client and showed the entire mass production process of the module assembly in Korea and Europe.?
??
"We hope to maintain long-term partnerships with Mercedes-Benz AG," said Mobis CEO Cho Sung-hwan. "We intend to increase trust with customers based on our excellent technical experience and stable supply capacity."?

Since 1999, Mobis has produced three types of modules, including cockpit-modules (control systems of the driver's seat), front-end modules (integrating heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and bumper systems) and chassis modules. The company is currently operating a total of 28 module production sites of which eight are in Korea and 20 are overseas.
